About Smart Space Co

Smart Space Co Pty Ltd was founded by Joseph, a registered builder with a passion for design, architecture and creating spaces that are both beautiful and built to last.

Joseph’s interest in buildings started early. After high school he completed a Certificate IV in Civil Engineering, giving him a strong technical foundation in how structures are planned and built. He then spent several years working as a laboratory and metallurgical technician in the Pilbara mining region, where he developed a solid understanding of materials, chemistry and the importance of precision and quality control.

While working in the mines, Joseph spent his weekends on construction sites, assisting with builds and plastering. The more he learned about how buildings come together, the more the industry fascinated him, and he saw a real opportunity in a field where skilled, reliable builders are always needed. This led him to complete both a Certificate IV and a Diploma in Building and Construction. Today he is a fully registered builder.

Alongside his formal qualifications, Joseph has built up a wide range of practical skills and tickets, including rigging, crane operation, welding, working at heights, small plant operation and painting. He has also trained in horticulture, with hands-on experience in gardening, replanting and irrigation systems. This gives him a well-rounded understanding of every stage of a project, from the structure itself to the finishes inside and the gardens outside.

What sets Joseph apart is the way he brings together technical skill and creativity. A passionate artist who loves drawing and painting, he has a natural eye for interior design and a genuine appreciation for architecture. This means every project is approached not just as a build, but as a space designed to look great and work well for the people who use it.

Joseph has led and organised teams on a range of renovation projects, and together the Smart Space Co team brings over 20 years of combined industry experience. Known for his attention to detail, strong organisation and ability to take decisive action, Joseph makes sure every job is well planned, well managed and finished to a high standard.
